General Description
The Sabre 34 was designed to be a racer-cruiser and offers excellent craftsmanship, gorgeous lines, terrific sailing characteristics, and sturdy blue water construction. "Swallow" was hand crafted in Maine, as all Sabres, with no expense spared; each piece of interior furnishing ? including all structural bulkheads ? were hand-fiberglassed directly to the hull. This ?stick-built? construction method is almost exclusively reserved for the highest-end custom sailing yachts. "Swallow" is an excellent choice for the sailor who is looking for blue water construction and outstanding sailing characteristics at a budget friendly price.
Actual Condition
It is reported that: "Swallow" is nicely fitted out for shorthanded sailing with all-running rigging leading back to the cockpit. She is an ideal cruising yacht for a couple to take off for a weekend or a month. On deck, the teak is natural for easy maintenance, the cockpit is spacious with a handy teak folding table.
Below, the traditional Sabre Burmese teak and joiner work is outstanding. Bunks for six include a double-berth in the salon and a pilot berth aft as well as the traditional fore peak berths. The nifty fold-up table seats five for dinner and disappears against the bulkhead the rest of the time. This is a very comfortable cruising, racing arrangement.
Well-maintained, "Swallow" is a terrific opportunity for the knowledgeable cruiser to move into a shallow-draft yacht for cruising the skinny water denied to most sailors. Cruising Speed: 6 knots (we are told).
